Winter 2020 Workshop: Advanced Topics in Teaching Verbal Behavior to Persons with Autism And Related Disabilities
We are excited to announce that our 2020 Workshop will be held on January 23rd-24th, at the University of Louisville’s Shelby Campus. Dr. Vincent J. Carbone will describe some current topics in the behavior analytic approach to teaching verbal behavior and how this information can be used to improve the instruction of persons with autism. Three important topics will be addressed including joint stimulus control and multiple causation, Skinner’s analysis of the autoclitic and its application to teaching complex language to persons with autism and the selection and teaching of alternative communication methods. Within the discussion of each topic a review of the current research and conceptual analysis will precede an overview of clinical application. In addition, numerous videos will be used to illustrate instructional methods to teach important language skills to persons with autism.
